Black Queer Town Hall Voting

Black Queer Town Hall: The Most Office Voting Campaign

A drag queen music video that successfully encouraged the citizens of Pennsylvania to vote

Agency: Virtue, 2020

Black Queer Town Hall is a charity organization from Bob the Drag Queen and Miss Peppermint that aims to uplift Black Queer voices.

As Black Queer Town Halls’s pro-bono agency partner, we knew that the election could be a key time for BQTH to activate— the election has a lot at stake for Black people, for Queer people, and those who sit at the intersection of the two. How could we be an influential voice during the 2020 election and encourage people to vote, all while bringing greater awareness to BQTH and its purpose? We decided to target Pennsylvania, one of the most important states in the election because of its number of electoral votes and its potential to go either Red or Blue.

With that came The Most Office, a USPS parody that encourages people to go vote by mail this election because there are people out there who'd prefer you didn't. The lyrics are catchy and informative, borrowing Bob & Pep’s genius lyric-writing to create a bop that will keep people informed and get them to the polls. Extensions also included two Afropunk digital festival panels and an IG Live conversation with another Black Queer queen, Honey Davenport.

Pennsylvania ended up being a pivotal blue swing state in the 2020 election - Erie, Northampton, Luckawanna, and Chester counties that were shouted out in the song were also blue!
